Experience the raw beauty of remote Australia and hidden California as ridden by an elite brigade of surfers including Bob McTavish, Ted Spencer, David “Baddy” Treloar, Chris Brock, Gary Keys, Russell Hughes, and other underground talents. Journey back to the golden era of the late 1960s, witnessing empty perfection at iconic spots like Lennox Head in Northern NSW.

“The Innermost Limits of Pure Fun” is far more than just a surf film; it is a cinematic masterwork of the highest magnitude. George Greenough meticulously chronicles ground zero of the shortboard revolution as it evolved in 1968. This highly personalized film offers the prime instigator’s direct perspective on the innovations that forever changed surfing. Explore the “Innermost Limits” from the inside out, with George’s groundbreaking point-of-view sequences that remain utterly unique and revolutionary to this day.

Adding to its distinct character is the film’s improvisational soundtrack, scored on the spot by Dennis Dragon and Denny Aaberg with their cult band, The Farm. Prepare for a captivating auditory experience of grinding organ tones, thumping bass, and a collaboration of musicians deeply rooted in surf music and blues.

Remarkably, this cinematic document was financed entirely with the proceeds generated by Greenough’s fishing business, ensuring it is completely free of any commercial restraints or advertising sludge – a pure vision from a pure source.

This special screening is proudly hosted by Steve & Cher Pendarvis, personal friends of George Greenough, offering an even deeper connection to the film’s creator.

As George Greenough himself describes the profound experience of tube riding: “You might be in there for only a few seconds in real time, but in your head, it goes on for hours. It is an experience that’s hard to describe, riding inside of a big, grinding wave. Often, you are riding so deep inside the tube that you don’t make it out. You take a terrible wipeout. What matters is when you’re in there, it’s the time interval when you’re inside the wave. Time enters space, a zone of its own. The only reality is what’s happening right then.”

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to connect with a true masterpiece of surf cinema and its legendary creator’s vision.
